PRISM Theatricals’ First Full Length Production is a Resounding Success

“It was a theatre experience like I’ve never had before.” Josh said, as he described being surrounded by the actors and set throughout the performance. The play, August: Osage County, was performed “in the round” on October 16 and 17 at the Branson Community Center. The story, themes, and humor of this show were darker than the Branson area is used to seeing, but the near capacity audiences were enthralled from beginning to end.

“A father who has vanished. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after their father disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a play that unflinchingly – and uproariously – exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family. Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning, August: Osage County is a modern masterpiece.” – Concord Theatricals

The show featured unmatched performances by lead actors Mindy Law and Sonya Godfrey. The supporting cast of David Hewitt, Payton Seig, Abby Reeve, Amber Carr, Loran Polson, Tierce Carmody, Andrew Rumachik, Hayley Knife Chief, Kyle Jacobs, Tim Reech and Greg Lilley rounded out an ensemble of veteran and debut performers. It was directed by Jeremiah Reeve and presented in agreement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists play service.

The reception from the audience was overwhelmingly positive:

Angelica said “You could see all of the emotions…10 out of 10!”

Amanda says “Hands down one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.”

Eric said “I’m super excited to see the next thing these guys do…hopefully the community will continue to support (PRISM)”

“So many details were carefully executed to bring the evening’s experience together for your audience,” said Adele.

PRISM Theatricals will be announcing their next performance very soon. “We’re eager to announce what we have planned moving forward, especially after receiving so much support on our first show.” said Michael Prince, Sitting Chair of the Prism Creative Board.
